This post is long overdue. I’ve watched a lot on Netflix again. Halloween has both been and gone, so because of that, I’ve watched a few spooky things.. such as The Haunting of Hill House. I’m going to talk about that and everything else I’ve been watching in this post.
What I’ve been watching on Netflix #9
The Haunting of Hill House
This was an incredible series. If you’re into the paranormal, then this is definitely one I recommend. The timing of it coming out couldn’t have been better, what with it coming out just before Halloween.
I won’t spoil it for those of you that haven’t seen it, don’t worry. What I will say though, is that the ending was rather disappointing. It felt a bit cheesy if I’m honest. I haven’t read the book that this series was based on, so maybe that’s just how it ends in the book too? If anyone knows, please let me know.
Despite the ending not living up to the rest of the series, in my opinion at least, it was still really good. The acting was amazing and even the kids did a great job. I heard that episode 6 was filmed as a one-shot (one long take) and took a lot of rehearsal, which is so impressive. Stephen King even said on Twitter that he thinks the series is “close to a work of genius” and coming from him, that’s high praise.
Making a Murderer – Season 2
After chatting on Twitter about this series and hearing it was really good, I decided to check it out. I hadn’t watched the first one, but I was able to grasp what was going on fairly quickly. I watched a recap online, read up on it and got the low down from my fiancé (who had watched the first one).
I highly recommend this series if you’re into true crime. I found it fascinating and I was pretty bummed out when the series ended. It would seem as if the case is still ongoing and I’m going to guess that there will be another series of this.
Are they innocent? Are they guilty? If you’ve seen it, I’d love to know what your thoughts are.
Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father – Season 2
If you’ve read my Netflix posts before, you’ll know that I absolutely loved the first series of this. I enjoyed the second series too, but it was super short! I felt that there should have been a few more episodes really. Although, having said that, the first season was only six episodes and the second season had five episodes. Maybe there should have been six like the first one.
This season followed them across Europe and was supposed to be about Jack’s dad showing him the things he’s into (culture and art) but Jack would often steal the show and just do the things he wanted to do.
Highly enjoyable series and very funny. It’s an easy watch, so if you’re looking for something funny and not terribly long, then this would be perfect.
Adam Sandler 100% Fresh
I’ve mentioned before that I find Adam Sandler very hit or miss, but I absolutely loved this standup show of his.
If you’re looking for some light hearted comedy and are particularly into musical comedy, then this would be right up your street.
Derren Brown: Sacrifice
I don’t have much to say about this one, other than the fact that I enjoyed it. I’d like to believe that everything that Derren Brown does in this one and his others as 100% real and true, but the sceptic in me always wonders how genuine these are.
It was a good watch and if it’s all real then it’s very impressive.
Paranormal: White Noise
I’ve mentioned before that I love the paranormal and I usually enjoy these types of film, however, this was a snooze fest. It was so boring, there was literally nothing happening for what seemed like forever.
I will be totally honest, I completely gave up on this film and switched it off. It was like watching paint dry, only I’m sure that would have been more exciting.
If you are into watching a woman search around a subway station and not much else happening, then this is your film.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
I really wanted to like this. I grew up with Sabrina the Teenage Witch and I had high hopes for the series on Netflix.
I gave it a few episodes before I admitted defeat. Sadly, I just didn’t like it. The new Sabrina was cute and everything and the acting in it wasn’t bad or anything, but it just wasn’t what I was hoping for I guess. It wasn’t something I could get into.
Don’t Watch This
A series of short horror films.
A couple of them were okay, but the majority of them were really boring and stupid (especially the computer one). Luckily they were extremely short, so I don’t feel so bad about having watched all of them.
Another rubbish film that I turned off. The acting was horrific and it really took me out of being immersed in the film. I couldn’t get far into it at all, which was a shame because the synopsis sounded like something that I’d be into.
I hope you all enjoyed reading what I’ve been watching on Netflix and I hope you are all doing well.
