What I’ve been watching on Netflix #9

What I've Been Watching on Netflix #9 - image of fire, poporn and a mug in a cosy

This post is long overdue. I’ve watched a lot on Netflix again. Halloween has both been and gone, so because of that, I’ve watched a few spooky things.. such as The Haunting of Hill House. I’m going to talk about that and everything else I’ve been watching in this post.

What I’ve been watching on Netflix #9

The Haunting of Hill House

This was an incredible series. If you’re into the paranormal, then this is definitely one I recommend. The timing of it coming out couldn’t have been better, what with it coming out just before Halloween.

I won’t spoil it for those of you that haven’t seen it, don’t worry. What I will say though, is that the ending was rather disappointing. It felt a bit cheesy if I’m honest. I haven’t read the book that this series was based on, so maybe that’s just how it ends in the book too? If anyone knows, please let me know.

Despite the ending not living up to the rest of the series, in my opinion at least, it was still really good. The acting was amazing and even the kids did a great job. I heard that episode 6 was filmed as a one-shot (one long take) and took a lot of rehearsal, which is so impressive. Stephen King even said on Twitter that he thinks the series is “close to a work of genius” and coming from him, that’s high praise.

Making a Murderer – Season 2

After chatting on Twitter about this series and hearing it was really good, I decided to check it out. I hadn’t watched the first one, but I was able to grasp what was going on fairly quickly. I watched a recap online, read up on it and got the low down from my fiancé (who had watched the first one).

I highly recommend this series if you’re into true crime. I found it fascinating and I was pretty bummed out when the series ended. It would seem as if the case is still ongoing and I’m going to guess that there will be another series of this.

Are they innocent? Are they guilty? If you’ve seen it, I’d love to know what your thoughts are.

Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father – Season 2

If you’ve read my Netflix posts before, you’ll know that I absolutely loved the first series of this. I enjoyed the second series too, but it was super short! I felt that there should have been a few more episodes really. Although, having said that, the first season was only six episodes and the second season had five episodes. Maybe there should have been six like the first one.

This season followed them across Europe and was supposed to be about Jack’s dad showing him the things he’s into (culture and art) but Jack would often steal the show and just do the things he wanted to do.

Highly enjoyable series and very funny. It’s an easy watch, so if you’re looking for something funny and not terribly long, then this would be perfect.

Adam Sandler 100% Fresh

I’ve mentioned before that I find Adam Sandler very hit or miss, but I absolutely loved this standup show of his.

If you’re looking for some light hearted comedy and are particularly into musical comedy, then this would be right up your street.

Derren Brown: Sacrifice

I don’t have much to say about this one, other than the fact that I enjoyed it. I’d like to believe that everything that Derren Brown does in this one and his others as 100% real and true, but the sceptic in me always wonders how genuine these are.

It was a good watch and if it’s all real then it’s very impressive.

Paranormal: White Noise

I’ve mentioned before that I love the paranormal and I usually enjoy these types of film, however, this was a snooze fest. It was so boring, there was literally nothing happening for what seemed like forever.

I will be totally honest, I completely gave up on this film and switched it off. It was like watching paint dry, only I’m sure that would have been more exciting.

If you are into watching a woman search around a subway station and not much else happening, then this is your film.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

I really wanted to like this. I grew up with Sabrina the Teenage Witch and I had high hopes for the series on Netflix.

I gave it a few episodes before I admitted defeat. Sadly, I just didn’t like it. The new Sabrina was cute and everything and the acting in it wasn’t bad or anything, but it just wasn’t what I was hoping for I guess. It wasn’t something I could get into.

Don’t Watch This

A series of short horror films.

A couple of them were okay, but the majority of them were really boring and stupid (especially the computer one). Luckily they were extremely short, so I don’t feel so bad about having watched all of them.

Another rubbish film that I turned off. The acting was horrific and it really took me out of being immersed in the film. I couldn’t get far into it at all, which was a shame because the synopsis sounded like something that I’d be into.

I hope you all enjoyed reading what I’ve been watching on Netflix and I hope you are all doing well.

You can check out my last Netflix post here.

If you have any recommendations on what else I should be watching or any comments at all, please leave them below.

I love hearing from you guys. ♥

I haven’t watched Making a Murderer 2 yet but the first one was so interesting so I have to watch this at some point! I have watched 4 episodes of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, it’s not bad, it’s an easy watch – something to put on in the background, not sure when I’ll carry it on though! Thank you for the recommendations! 🙂

The whole case is definitely interesting, Chloe. I hope you get around to watching the second one.

I’m glad you find The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina okay. I mean, yeah, it’s alright for background noise but it wasn’t captivating me like I thought it would. Maybe if I was in my teens it would have. It wasn’t terrible, but it just wasn’t for me I think.

Thank you so much for reading and commenting. Means a lot ♥

It was very interesting and still ongoing too. If you get a chance to watch it, I definitely recommend it.

I like Derren Brown too, but I find some of it very hard to believe.. even though I want to!

Thank you for reading and commenting ♥

I’ve heard so much about The Haunting of Hill House but sadly, we don’t have Netflix so I won’t be watching any of these shows. I do like Jack Whitehall though, I’ve seen him before and he always makes me laugh. Parent and sibling shows are really good, I think, they spark off each other and usually, the parent is the star but it doesn’t sound like it here! Lovely round up, Laura, it’s making me think more seriously about Netflix for 2019 now 🙂 xx

Thanks for the heads up on ‘The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’, it’s been on my watch list, but I haven’t got around to it yet. I had such high hopes because I love the character and the 90s TV show. I also want to see ‘The Haunting of Hill House’ which I’m glad you enjoyed. 🙂 I’m currently rewatching Sons of Anarchy.

You might enjoy the new Sabrina, so maybe give it a go. It just wasn’t for me though. I heard that one episode is very Buffy-esque, which did interest me.. but I didn’t have the patience to stick with it to see that particular episode.

The Haunting of Hill House was so good. I rarely want to watch a series after I finish it, but I kinda want to go back and watch it again because there’s so many easter eggs and things people apparently don’t notice first time around.

I’ve never seen Sons of Anarchy, but my partner loved it. I think he may have it on DVD actually. I don’t know if I’d enjoy it.

Thank you so much for reading and commenting, lovely ♥

I didn’t realise Derren Brown was on Netflix. I’ll have to have a watch when I get a spare minute.
