30 Beauty Questions Tag

Pretty pink flowers next to a pot of makeup brushes and a mirror - 30 Beauty Questions Tag

I saw this tag online, the 30 Beauty Questions Tag and I decided to try it out myself. There’s not really much of a story there.

I wanted to credit the person who originally came up with this tag, but I couldn’t find it to credit them.. so if anyone knows, please let me know and I will happily give them the credit.

30 Beauty Questions Tag

Q1) Do you remember your first makeup item?

I think it was a single blue eyeshadow, but I don’t remember the brand. It was in a round black pot with a clear lid, that’s all I can recall about it. Also, I applied it horribly.. I thought just rubbing it all over my eyelid with one of those awful eyeshadow applicators meant that I had done my makeup. I was good to go in my opinion! Too funny.

Q2) Describe your perfect mascara. Have you found one that fits your specifications?

My perfect mascara would be one that is extremely black, that really lengthens lashes, gives them more volume, helps hold a curl and is waterproof but easy to take off. I don’t ask for much. Maybelline’s “Great Lash Mascara” in blackest black is still probably my favourite mascara. I’ve loved that one since I was a teen. I’m still on the lookout for one that really wows me though.

Q3) What kind of coverage do you prefer from foundation?

Full coverage. It has to be able to cover everything! I can’t be dealing with a foundation if it’s not full coverage, I may as well not wear one if it’s not. I suffer from acne prone skin, especially around my chin area (thanks PCOS) and therefore I need a really good high coverage foundation. A good concealer on top of that is key too.

Q4) Favourite High End Brand?

Umm.. hmm.. I will admit I haven’t tried that many high end brands, mostly because I can’t afford them, but Bobbi Brown is really good.

Q5) What cosmetic brands have you always wanted to try out but still haven’t?

So many! It’s a little embarrassing when I think of brands most people have tried that I haven’t. It’s probably easier to list what I have tried, than what I haven’t.

Q6) Favourite drugstore brand?

Currently I’m really loving L’Oreal. I do have a soft spot for Maybelline too though.

Q7) Do you wear fake eyelashes?

I do. I don’t wear them every time I wear makeup though, but when I am feeling a little extra (and have some time to fiddle around getting them applied right) then I might chuck some on.

Q8) Is there any kind of makeup you can’t leave the house without?

Foundation.. some days I have full on pizza face, so I want that as covered up as possible.

Q9) What is your most cherished beauty product?

At the moment, it’s probably the Juvias Place palettes I own. They were an indulgent purchase and something I’d wanted for a while. They have so many more that I want though. If you’re curious about them, I talked about them here.

Q10) How often do you shop for makeup?

I have this thing I do where I often go on amazon, Beauty Bay, Superdrug etc etc and I just shop like I have loads of money and put all the things I want into my basket.. only to then not checkout because I can’t afford them. I do this a little more than I care to admit. Not just with makeup either! But I really only purchase things as and when I need them, though I wish I could shop for makeup more. I’d be adding things to my collection daily if I could.

Q11) Do you have a “Beauty Budget” or do you spend freely?

No. As I said in the last question, I just get things as and when I need them. Anything that isn’t needed necessarily, will usually be something I ask for as a gift at Christmas or on my birthday.

Q12) Do you use coupons, reward cards when you shop for cosmetics?

I will look to see if there are any coupons online floating around for something, but I don’t use reward cards.

Q13) What type of product do you mostly buy the most of?

Foundation probably. I go through it a lot. I also go through concealer pretty quickly too.

Q14) Is there a brand that you can’t stand?

I’m trying to think.. hmm.. I can’t think of any really. Lots of brands have products that I personally don’t like, or products that didn’t work for me.. but they still have other things I like. So, I’m going to say no.. although, I’m not sure.

Q15) Do you avoid certain ingredients in cosmetics like parabens or sulfates?

No, but I probably should.

Q16) Do you have a favourite place to shop for makeup?

I love Beauty Bay, purely because there are many things there that I can’t get anywhere else.

Q17) Do you like trying new skincare products or do you keep a certain routine?

I am more cautious about trying skincare products because I have sensitive skin, but it’s sometimes nice to try new things.

Q18) Favourite bath and body brand?

I don’t have a favourite.

Q19) If you could only buy from one brand, which brand would you choose?

Currently, it would be L’Oreal. I’m really loving everything from L’Oreal that I’ve been trying lately.

Q20) What brand do you think has the best packaging?

So many brands have great packaging now, so it’s hard to say. I do really enjoy the look of Paul & Joe makeup though, because.. well.. cats.

Q21) Which celebrity always has great makeup?

All of the ones that have someone do their makeup for them.

Q22) Do you belong to any online makeup communities?

No, I didn’t even know this was a thing.

Q23) 5 Favourite Beauty Gurus

Also.. Simply Nailogical because she is super funny and she is always striving to be “beautiful person”.

Q24) Do you like multi-functional products like lip and cheek stains?

I like lip balms that have multi uses, as I use one of those regularly.. but I don’t really like products that have colour to them for multi use.

Q25) Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?

Sometimes! I have a habit of getting mascara on my nose or under my eyes.

Q26) Do you use makeup base / primer for the eyes?

Yes. I never used to, but when I realised how much a primer helped my foundation go on better, then I figured one for my eyes had to do the same thing.

Q27) How many hair products do you use on a typical day?

Three. Shampoo, conditioner and a heat protection/detangling spray. I think that’s a normal amount, right?

Q28) What do you apply first, concealer or foundation?

Foundation. I used to apply concealer first, before I saw that most people apply it after and then I was like, well, I guess I was doing it wrong! Now I always apply foundation first and then concealer after.

Q29) Do you ever consider taking makeup classes?

I have thought about it, but I think you can learn everything online for free really. It’s only really necessary if you want a qualification.

Q30) What do you love about makeup?

I love that it can make me feel more confident and better about myself.

Hopefully you guys enjoyed reading this 30 Beauty Questions Tag. I do like these kind of tags. If you know of any tags that you’d like me to do, then let me know. If you want to do this one yourself, then feel free.. I just wish I could credit the originator of this tag. If anyone knows who started it, I will give credit where it’s due.

This is an interesting test! On some questions, I do not know how to answer even myself. haha

I had trouble with a couple of them.

      Thanks for commenting ♥

Ooh good questions! You mentioned you like a good foundation/concealer and you’re a bit acne prone…me too. Have you ever tried Dermablend by Vichy? If not, I definitely recommend. It’s by far the best I’ve ever had for covering blemishes in a single application. I’ve even used it to cover a bruise before. If memory serves, it’s not too expensive and it lasts me quite a while.

Ooh, no.. I’ve never heard of that one before. I tried Dermacol which didn’t work out so great for me.. but I’ve never heard of Dermablend. I looked it up and it’s like £15 which is a little more than I usually spend on these things, but maybe it’s worth a go at some point? I forgot to check if they go pale enough for my ghost skin. Haha. Thanks for the suggestion! ♥

If it helps – I’m super pale, always the lightest shades in foundation. I think the shade I use is called porcelain and it doesn’t go orange or anything like that 🙂 I swear by it and I don’t think I’d bother with another concealer again. I use it every time I wear full makeup and it’s lasted me probably 9 months. I know it probably sounds like it, but I swear I’m not affiliated with Vichy haha, just love this stuff!

Haha, Vichy should sponsor you! Foundations and concealers that turn orange are the worst, I’m glad to hear this one doesn’t do that. ♥

This is such a fun post, loved reading your answers! I’m a fan of L’Oreal too especially their foundation, it’s my fave! I also love that makeup boosts my confidence too! Great post and love your photo too, it’s so pretty! 💖 xx

Thank you, glad you think it’s fun.

I’m so happy someone else loves L’Oreal foundation as much as me too.

I wish I could take credit for the pretty image but it’s one I found on Pixabay. Sometimes I just don’t feel like taking a photo and will find one on Pixabay that doesn’t ask for credit or anything. Great place for free images.

Aw man, have I been applying concealer the wrong way all this time?! I had a Kat Von D makeover the other day and learned that I should be doing my eyes before foundation so that the fallout doesn’t matter so much. Hard to break the habits of a lifetime though.

I don’t think you’ve been applying it wrong necessarily.. that’s just the way most of the beauty gurus seem to do it. If the way you do it works for you, then go for it. Yeah, doing your eyes first is great for shadows that have a lot of fallout, or if you’re working with glitter I’ve found. I agree though, hard to start doing your makeup differently when you’ve been doing it one way for so long. Thanks for commenting, lovely. ♥

Such a wonderful read! x I need to do something similar – so interesting! I love my Juvia’s place palettes too – they’re such good quality so one can’t help but guard them with my life! I also get mascara on my nose ALL THE TIME, don’t worry! x

Thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Glad to know that I’m not the only one that gets mascara on their nose from time to time either. Thanks for commenting. ♥
