I thought in today’s post I would talk about what video games I’ve loved and what games I’m looking forward to coming out.
Yes, I’m in my thirties. Yes, I’m female and yes, I love to game.
I’m sure there are other games out there that I’ve enjoyed too, but these are just the ones that immediately spring to mind.
The Sims franchise
I’ve been a huge fan of The Sims since the very first Sims game was released. I’ve always been suckered in to buying all the main expansions too. The extra additions you can buy (stuff packs, etc) never really appealed to me until The Sims 4. In fact, the Sims 4 is the only time I’ve ever purchased a few random packs that weren’t main expansions. I dread to think how much money has been spent on my entire Sims collection throughout the years.
There is something really fun about creating Sims and shaping their lives. Character creation is probably my favourite thing to do in the Sims and I spend ages on this. Creating houses is something I’ve never really been good at, but I admire the houses other people make and sometimes download ones from other more talented individuals.
The Sims is a game I get completely lost in and I forget about everything around me. Looking after my Sims suddenly becomes more important than myself.
Some people probably play the game without cheats, but I think cheats make it more fun. I love nothing more than giving my Sims the most money and kitting them out with a lavish house, furnishings and basically spoiling them.
I love that they finally added pets to the Sims 4.. the veterinary clinic is a great addition to the game. The first thing I did was re-create our two cats after getting this expansion. If you don’t re-create yourself and everyone you know in the Sims, then you’re lying.
Red Dead Redemption
I absolutely adored this game. I’m not even someone that’s particularly a fan of the Wild West or that whole scene, but I loved it.
Riding through the beautiful scenery on horseback was lovely.
It’s one of the few games that I was genuinely sad that I completed it. I wanted more! I actually cried at the end of the game, no spoilers.
Grand Theft Auto V
Another game I completed and really enjoyed. In general, I think I really like open world games and this is one with an expansive open world. It’s really fun to just explore, especially when you don’t feel like doing a mission.
One of my favourite things to do in this game was to get my wanted level up and then try to escape the police.
I also enjoyed dressing up my characters and visiting the shops. I actually wished there were more customisation options.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG)
This is probably the newest game on this list. There’s nothing more nerve-racking and exhilarating than jumping out of a plane into an area and trying to survive to be the last man standing.
One of my favourite moments of playing this game was lying at the top of the stairs with a shotgun. 5 different people came in and tried to go upstairs only to be greeted by me blowing their heads off. There was just a pile of crates that their bodies left behind going up the stairs. I also did a similar tactic by hiding behind a bathroom door. You think people would realise something was up when they saw the mound of crates in the doorway, but nope.. they kept coming! Good times.
I tried to play Fortnite, which is the free cartoony version of this and it’s just not for me.
The Wolf Among Us
This game I really enjoyed. I went into it not really knowing what I was playing and I was amazed how quickly I got sucked into the game.
This game is based on the comic books, I actually think it’s supposed to be a prequel. I’ve since tried to read a couple of the comics and it’s just not the same.
The Wolf Among Us is a story telling type game and you choose from different dialogue options which will impact the direction of the story.
I want to say so much, but I fear it would spoil it for anyone who may be interested in playing it. I definitely recommend checking it out.
Left 4 Dead
I really loved playing the first Left 4 Dead game. The second one was good too, but the original I played far more of.
These games are zombie games, in case you didn’t know. I was surprised that I even liked playing this genre of game, but I did.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Xbox Game 2002)
As a HUGE fan of the TV show I picked this game up immediately. The game was really fun to play.
I even forgave the fact that Buffy’s voice was a different voice actress.
The second game “Chaos Bleeds” was really good too, but the original game has a special place in my heart.
Games I’m looking forward to coming out
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Jurassic World Evolution
- Shadow of the Tomb Raider
- Wolf Among Us 2 (I think this is a rumour, but I hope it’s true)
What games do you all enjoy? What games are you all looking forward to being released? I’d love to know. Leave me a comment below.. I love hearing from you guys! ♥
