Juvia’s Place “The Nubian 2” & “The Masquerade” eyeshadow palette – Best eyeshadows I’ve ever used

Images of the Juvia's Place eyeshadow palettes "Masquerade" and "Nubian 2"

When the beauty community raves about a makeup product, I sometimes have to give in and investigate. So, because of that, I purchased two Juvia’s Place eyeshadow palettes via Beauty Bay. “The Masquerade palette” and “The Nubian 2 palette” and I was not disappointed.

First Impressions

The design on the palettes was replicated on the external box and inside they were protected with bubble wrap. I absolutely love how well packaged these eyeshadow palettes arrived, it’s details like that which feel very well thought out. Nobody wants to receive a smashed to bits eyeshadow palette.

The designs on the palettes are very unique.

The Nubian 2 palette has an Egyptian looking design, which makes sense when you read the back of the box. On the reverse of the box, it says, “The Nubian 2 Palette by Juvia’s was inspired by an African Empire in old Egypt, headed by the beauty icon Nefertiti. She was famously endowed with strength and spirituality.”

The Masquerade palette also looks like it could take inspiration from that theme. They are both very striking to look at. On the reverse of The Masquerade palette, it says, “The Masquerade palette was inspired by festivities usually filled with beautiful and striking colors. Enormously captured and celebrated with joy, beauty, vibrancy, and spirituality.”

Both of these palettes feel very well made. The Masquerade palette is slightly larger than The Nubian 2.

Price point

I bought both of these palettes on the Beauty Bay website. At the time of purchase The Masquerade palette was £35 and The Nubian 2 palette was £30. I got them both at the same time, but I really wanted to buy the entire collection after I’d heard so many good things about them.

Personally, I think both of these palettes are priced incredibly fairly and I will explain why over the course of this review.

I’m not even going to pretend I know what all of those ingredients mean, but maybe someone out there does and would be interested to know.

Now we have the boring things out of the way, let’s take a closer look at the palettes!

The Nubian 2 palette

Just look at those gorgeous colours! Even in the palette they look amazing.. I’ve been playing with this palette a fair bit, even prior to taking these photos (which is why it’s not pristine). I love how each shade is labelled clearly and the pan size of each colour is generous. The eyeshadow names seem to be African and Egyptian inspired, much like the palette as a whole.

Below are the swatches of each colour. I only lightly went in with my finger and then onto my skin.. they are so pigmented! The shimmery shades are absolutely gorgeous and reflective. The matte shades are so perfect. These blend like a dream and some feel super buttery and lush too. With just this one palette alone, of 12 shades, you are able to create some killer eyeshadow looks.

I’ve experimented with laying out my swatches, but I don’t know if I’m totally sold on this way of displaying them. Let me know your thoughts!

The Masquerade palette

Again, these are absolutely gorgeous colours. The back of the box didn’t lie, these are definitely festival-esque colours. I love how the top two rows are very vibrant and colourful and the bottom two are more neutral. You get the best of both worlds. It also means you can use one of the bottom matte shades as a nice transition shade in your crease, before you go ham with colour on the lid.

There is a smaller version of this palette available too, for £5 less.. but I wanted the biggest pan size I could get. There’s nothing more fun to do than playing around with eyeshadow looks. This palette is definitely one where you can do that!

You get an impressive 16 different colours to play with.

The swatches below are stunning. The price of these palettes is so good, considering how pigmented and blendable the eyeshadows are. I’m in love with this brand and I need to get more of their palettes!

The top row gives me definite mermaid vibes, they are so shimmery and beautiful. The second row feels flirty and fun, while the bottom rows feel more muted.

The shade “Giza” would be perfect in the inner corner of your eye to really open it up. So incredibly gorgeous!

Final Thoughts on Juvia’s Place “The Masquerade” & “The Nubian 2”

I am more than impressed with these palettes. They have so many pros.. unique packaging (with amazing artwork), gorgeous pigmented shades, easy to blend and generous pan sizes.. to name a few.

I can’t think of any cons!

Oh, the palettes don’t have a mirror.. so some of you may be disappointed by that, but the quality of these palettes is so good that I can forgive that. Plus, having a mirror would bump up the price probably and I think the price is perfect as is.

I’m super happy that I was able to find these for sale on the Beauty Bay website.. it’s so hard to find these amazing overseas brands sometimes. I didn’t want to buy from just anywhere, because I might end up with a counterfeit product and nobody wants that. Juvia’s Place lists on their website that the Beauty Bay is an authorised seller. Be sure you check their website for official sellers.

Hopefully I will be able to show off more Juvia’s Place palettes in the future, as these are by far the best eyeshadows I’ve ever owned. Love, love, love them!

I was not paid for this review, the products I purchased myself and all photos and opinions are my own.

This is a great review. I love it when a review includes details like the ingredients and price point! Not everyone does. And it’s always good to see swatches. I can tell you’ve worked hard on this and it must’ve taken you a while to put together the images etc. Well done, it’s a great post!
