Forever in my thoughts – Mother’s Day flowers – Prestige Flowers

Mothers Day Flowers from Prestige Flowers, in a white vase on a window sill

Mother’s Day for most people is just another day of celebration, but for some of us (and I include myself in that) it can be a very hard time. I’m thankful Prestige Flowers wanted to work with me again and on this post, as I wanted to talk about this but wasn’t sure how.

Mother’s Day blues

Lately I’ve been inundated with promotional messages for Mother’s Day and I can’t open an e-mail around this time of year without my heart breaking. Why? Well.. when I was 17, my mum passed away.. and Mother’s Day just highlights the fact that she’s gone.

Every e-mail is, “What to get your mother for mothers day”. Every competition is, “Win this for your mother”. I know I shouldn’t let those things bother me, because it’s not like they know and are deliberately being insensitive.. but I just feel that too many people just assume that your mum is still around.

I’d love to see better wording surrounding Mother’s Day, to make those of us in this horrible situation feel less excluded. I don’t know how. I don’t have a solution for that. It’s just something that every year I think about. I wonder why nobody thinks of people in my position when it comes to marketing campaigns and so on.

The pain doesn’t go away

It doesn’t hurt any less for me, even though much time has passed since she died, it still breaks my heart. I wish she was here, but at the same time I wouldn’t want her to be in the pain she was in.

It’s definitely a hard time of the year for anyone whose mum is no longer around.

Mother’s Day flowers

Flowers are one thing that you definitely can buy (if you’re in the same situation as me) for Mother’s Day. Whether you choose to lay them at your mums grave, or you have them in your house in their memory.. I think they are a respectful way to show that they have never left your thoughts.

Prestige Flowers has a large selection of gorgeous bouquets for Mother’s Day.

If your mother is still around, I’m sure they’d be thrilled to receive these for Mothers Day too.

The Flowers I received

I won’t bore you again with what the box these flowers came in looks like, but, if you did want to see then you can see this post for an image.

When I opened the box I was surprised to see a furry face inside. Here is an image of when I opened up the box.

The flowers were presented beautifully, wrapped up neatly; alongside a teddy bear, box of chocolates, glass vase and a gift bag. Here are a couple of images of them in their paper.

The flowers are beautiful, but because of the snow I think these may have been delayed in getting to me. So, if they are looking a little sad in places, then I’m sure that’s why. You can’t help what the weather is doing! Thankfully the snow seems to have disappeared here now.

A bear-y nice surprise

The teddy bear that came along with these flowers is so incredibly soft. According to the tag on his ear, his name is Charlie. He’s made exclusively for Prestige Flowers, so he’s a one of a kind bear. He does feel absolutely amazing though!

Both of my cats immediately investigated who this new furry creature was.. my male cat took a disliking to him though, and tried to swipe at him. He doesn’t like furry things like that, I think he feels they’re threatening him as they don’t blink. Amusing for me, but must be terrifying for him. My female cat couldn’t care less though, she sniffed him and then went back to trying to get on my lap like she always does.

Despite what my cats think, I actually find the teddy adorable.

Adorable teddy from Prestige Flowers - the Mothers Day flowers that came with him are not pictured. He's just sat on the table looking cute.

He’s quite cute, isn’t he? I then got him to hold the chocolates for me, so I could show you guys the box of chocolates and what you get inside.

The Chocolates

The chocolates are heart shaped, in pink foil. They are solid chocolate, which surprised me! I expected them to have a filling or be hollow.. so don’t do what I did and almost break your teeth on them! They tasted amazing though. I just love chocolate!

The box that the chocolates come in is nice too, definitely looks like a gift.

As you can see in the photo, the bottom tray of my box had two little rips in the top corners, not sure how that happened!

Here’s one final image of an arty type close up shot of the flowers. I was experimenting!

Final Thoughts

I love Prestige Flowers, their flowers are always lovely and I definitely recommend them.

These Mother’s Day flowers are beautiful and I’m happy to have them in my house in remembrance of my mum. My mum would have loved them and she would have adored the teddy bear. She used to collect beanie babies and a lot of those were teddies, I inherited a large part of her collection and the bear wouldn’t be out of place with it.

If you’re in a similar situation to myself, then please know you’re not alone. It is hard, but it’s one day of the year and we can still remember our mums on that day too.

I’m so sorry for your loss lovely, I can’t even begin to imagine.
This is something I was aware of when I was writing my gift guide for mother’s day, but I wasn’t sure how to word it without sounding insensitive. But I’m aware that posting anything like that could be insensitive for the many people, like you, who have lost someone.
Again, I’m so sorry this is a difficult time for you x
